10 tips and tricks for Gmail users

One of the best and most used communication tools is e-mail, either for personal use or for business. The most popular service worldwide is Gmail, which currently has nearly two billion accounts worldwide.

1. Switch between multiple Gmail accounts

If you have over one Gmail account, you can sign in to several of them at the same time. This way, you'll be able to switch between accounts without logging out and logging back in. Accounts have separate settings, but sometimes, the default account settings may apply. To quickly switch between two or more Gmail accounts, or to open them side by side in the tabs of the browser you're using, click the image, name, or email address of your current account in the right-hand corner of the toolbar. Top navigation in Gmail and select one of the email addresses from the menu that appears.

2. Update your profile picture on Google

You can customize your email by updating your Google Account profile picture. To do this, go to Settings, then General My Picture and click on the "About me" link. The "About Me" section of your Google Account will open, where you can add a new photo.

3. Organize emails using tags

This option allows you to split your inbox into several sections. They can be organized: Priority (reply, read, etc.), tagged (starred, important, etc.). To use this feature, go to "Settings", select the Inbox tab, then click "More received boxes". Finally, save the changes.

4. Add more Google signatures

Provides a feature that allows users to set up and use multiple email signatures. To do this, go to the "Settings", "General", "Signature" category and click the "Create New" button. Here, you may make an unused signature using Gmail instruments.

5. Insert photos into the body of the email

If you want photos to appear next to the text in the email's body, all you have to do is compose a new message or click on "Reply", then drag a picture from your laptop's photo folder and place it in the email's body where you want.

6. Use templates

If there are emails that have the same form, and you need to write them every day, you can save templates in Gmail to make your work easier. If you want to do this, go to Settings, select the "Advanced" tab and activate the "Templates" option. In the end, as with any new setting, don't forget to save your changes.

7. Delete unnecessary emails

If you run out of space on Gmail, you can delete very large emails as easily as quickly. To do this, you need to access the search bar and type "larger: 5 MB" or "larger: 10 MB", depending on your preferences. In a few seconds, you will free up space.

8. Disable a thread / conversation

When you are added in an email to the "CC" category (n.n. - carbon copy = information copy) a long series of conversations follows. At a few points, this may end up irritating, but you'll be able to turn it off. All you have to do is select the conversation you want to turn off by checking the box next to the topic. Then click "More" and select "Disable."

9. Cancel an incorrectly sent email

The function that helps you cancel a wrongly sent email is called Undo Send. This allows you to return to the sent message within 30 seconds of pressing the Send button. You can activate it by accessing "Settings", "General", and in the "Cancel sending" section you can set the cancellation interval to 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds. The next time you email, use the "Cancel" option below the search bar.

10. Enable and set up Gmail notifications on your laptop

You must first enable Gmail notifications on your laptop in the Google Chrome browser and then desktop notifications in Gmail. From then on, every time you receive an email, you will see a pop-up window on the screen. To set it up, go to "Settings", "General" and scroll down to the "Desktop notification" section. Here are three notification options. I usually set the default option to OFF, but you can also enable new email notifications.
